Walk in Haute-Savoie : Grande Pointe des Journées
by grux on Mar.27, 2011, under Report
Here is an idea of hiking with in the end, some nice pictures of mountain landscapes: a little walk to the Grande Pointe des Journées (1722 m). It is an alternative (very) easy to the Mont Billiat (1894 m) to hikers and without great physical condition like me
.
The Grande Pointe des Journées, with the Mont Billiat, is part of the small mountain range surrounded by the valley Brevon and the valley Aulps, and closes the valley Bellevaux.
The start of this walk is at the chalets de la Buchille we joined, coming from Thonon-les-Bains, taking on the left (Les Bossons) shortly before arriving at Bellevaux.
The first part of the hike, from the chalets de la Buchille up to the chalets de Pertuis, is a gentle slope for about 30-40 minutes. Personally, it’s nice because not too difficult.
From the chalets de Pertuis, we must go slightly to the left of the oratory and a first pass gate. The footpath takes a slightly steeper slope to continue slowly on a small ridge. Then the trail takes on a somewhat steep slope to a second gate and leads to a collar.

The path is on the right and walk along the rocks in 60 to 80 meters. A footpath then climbs to a pass, the peak is located on the right.
I didn’t climb to the top: with the gear I had on the back and my condition, I didn’t feel secure. My friend got there, and it is not large. The route with the GPS, then stops before the peak (1722 m).
A very good alternative is when you go up the neck after the second gate, take the path on the left to reach a close peak (1715 m) much more accessible. Well, there’s a lot of nettles at the end of the road.
