NGC281, Pacman nebula

Pacman, video game cult early 80′s and cartoon, also gave its name to a nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. Beginners in astronomy ask me why. I will just tell them to watch what Pacman looked like and then to look at the photograph below.

Veil Nebula (NGC6960 / Sh2-103)… Well, I think we can do better

The month of June has been a return in terms of astronomical photography, the first picture being a regain control of my telescope WO Megrez 110 on Sadr and IC1318. The picture I show you below represents a part of the nebula called the Veil Nebula (NGC6960, étant englobé dans la Sharpless SH2-103). It has been taken on 25th June 2011, the day after “Sadr and IC1318″.

Inside the Cygnus constellation, near Sadr (Gamma Cygnus)

I’m late in the processing of my astrophotographs. However, until mid September, I only have 3 or 4 of them. I hope making up for lost time knowing that I took about ten more pictures between mid September to beginning of October.

Well…

The picture I show you here below has been taken last 24th June 2011. The photographic field is in the Cygnus constellation near the notable star Sadr (Gamma Cygni).

The Cygnus constellation is often a favorite target because it contains a lot of red nebulae showing presence of hydrogen. A well-known one in this constellation is the North America (NGC 7000) nebula near the star Deneb (alpha Cygni).

The Moon on June 25th 2011 in very early morning

During the night of June 24h 2011 after taking some pictures of Gamma Cygni (Sadr) with my William Optics Megrez 110, I tried and take some images of the Moon after moonrise with my new camera DMK 41AU02.AS.

19h20, la Nouvelle Lune a eu lieu la veille et la Lune est alors âgée de 0.82 jours soit environ 19 heures et 40 minutes. Si les conditions atmosphériques sont bonnes, il est possible de la voir suivant de "près" le Soleil juste avant qu'elle ne se couche.

J'ai eu la chance d'avoir le beau temps, d'être là au bon moment et d'avoir eu un peu d'aide ( si si !).
