Why ? How to ? Underexposed photographs with snow and beach

by on Sep.22, 2011, under Tricks and hints

I think you already have taken some pictures of snowy landscapes in winter or summer beach that are very under-exposed? For those who love a nice deep skies are generally pleased, but the rest of the picture is disappointing.

Why does this result happened although the software in the camera usually gives good results? Why is this under-exposed? How to fix this problem?

Walk in the snow at the beginning of the year

by on Jan.31, 2011, under Report

Flashback to the very beginning of the year : after the snowfall of Christmas which I took advantage… for taking a few pictures, the following week didn’t bring much more (if any). In mountains, at medium altitude, it wasn’t just enough.

The week after Christmas, I stayed home and under the stratus (people will recognize the Geneva Region ;)): shame on me over the weather was fine !

On 3 January 2011, I’m been out late in the afternoon for a short walk to enjoy some snow and the beautiful light…

Walk by Moonlight

by on Jan.17, 2011, under Report

night of Saturday, January 15, 2011 was not an ideal night to do astrophotography with a digital camera without interference filter: a big gibbous Moon has dominated most of the night.

My friend took the opportunity to test its new acquisition (a nice little telescope I will not say which brand). So I’ve been there with her, not for astronomy but also to try me a little photo shoot at Moonlight in the snow. A Plaine-Joux, it still tends to miss.

Well, I enjoyed myself. I’ll let you see my humble shots.

A Christmas with snow

by on Jan.05, 2011, under Report

Long ago we had not had snow at Christmas in Savoie : Well, well, this year it’s fixed! Despite the problems that cause little (less safe roads, delay for bus, train or aircraft, power outage, …) to have snow for Christmas always been magic for me.

I invite you to short ride the photo that ran from the 24 and Dec. 26 on the side of Aix-les-Bains …

Everything begins with a sunset on Christmas Eve, it already snowed during the afternoon. The snow is still falling, but already a little coat covers the countryside, trees and road. The clouds are low, mixture of the colors of dark blue and light pollution created atmosphere a bit surreal.

The next day, Christmas, it is still snowing a little, the sun is still hidden by clouds: we did not really want to go out, and yet it’s worth nothing that brings calmness to the mantle white.

Despite the gloom surrounding, you can find here and there a few colored dots (green evergreen leaves, brown leaves of trees that have refused to fall, red berries, …) and to have fun see small thin branches hold snow or emerge from the white mantle.

December 26 is a complete change of atmosphere. Despite a few clouds in the sky walk (at the option of a cold wind that makes them move faster), the sun illuminates the whole scene!

The colors explode. The blue sky contrasts with the snow. The sun low in the south gives us an amber light adds to the explosion of colors.

The sun has set, but illuminates the mountain again, just to make us even enjoy a few more minutes.
