Nebulae in Cepheus
by grux on Jan.29, 2012, under Creations
This photograph shows you a field in the Milky Way in the Cepheus constellation which angular sizes in the sky are 18.17° x 12.11°,(for comparison, the angular diameter of the Moon is 0,5°). I used a lens whose focallength is 70 mm on my Canon EOS 350D.
The Veil Nebula : this time in a wider field of view
by grux on Oct.09, 2011, under Creations
24th June 2011, I took a photograph of a part of Veil Nebula with my telescope WO Megrez 110. Despite I got details in the nebula, I wasn’t very satisfied : except some technical problems, the photographic field was too tight for me.
31th July 2011, I took another photograph of this summer star with a lens with a shorter focallength (Zoom Canon 70-200 2.8 L, set at 200 mm). The purpose was to have the entire nebula.
Veil Nebula (NGC6960 / Sh2-103)… Well, I think we can do better
by grux on Oct.08, 2011, under Creations
The month of June has been a return in terms of astronomical photography, the first picture being a regain control of my telescope WO Megrez 110 on Sadr and IC1318. The picture I show you below represents a part of the nebula called the Veil Nebula (NGC6960, étant englobé dans la Sharpless SH2-103). It has been taken on 25th June 2011, the day after “Sadr and IC1318″.
Heart and Soul in astrophotography

October 2010, 7th – Ajon (Bogève – Haute-Savoie – France)
Practising astronomy not at home can constraining (load the car, drive a few kilometers, install the equipment, uninstall the equipment, drive back home, … for emptying the car, this waits next day..). Howver, I like being in mountains, outside the city, in the peacefulness.
At the beginning of October, enjoying a few days off and good weather, I’ve been to my site astro preferred Ajon. Program: Heart nebula (IC1805) and soul nebula (IC1848) in the constellation Cassiopeia.
Astrophotography Col du Joly (Session 2010)
by grux on Oct.23, 2010, under Creations
September 2010, 10th & 11th – Col du Joly
Plaine Joux (Bogève) is a good place for visual astronomy or astrphotography (SQM at about 21). However, it’s nice to go to see a better skies. It’s not Restefond nor Chili
. It’s simply the Col du Joly (SQM at about 21.4) on the slopes of the resort of Les Contamines-Montjoie : as for me, it’s enough far away from my flat.
During two nights, I could make 2 photographs:
- a large field around Sharpless 170 & 171 (total exposure : 4h40)
- the Galaxie M31 in Andromeda (total exposure : 55min – alas ) pour une pose totale de 55 min (unfortunately, the clouds have rapidly invaded the sky)
